The Ordinary HRD was founded on a simple belief: that every organisation deserves access to senior HR thinking when it matters most.
The name is deliberate. We are not a faceless consultancy of partners and associates. We are experienced HR directors — people who have held the seat, managed the room, and navigated the hard conversations that define careers and shape organisations.
We founded The Ordinary HRD after years of watching organisations struggle through people risk situations without proper support: HR teams stretched too thin, line managers out of their depth, decisions made under pressure that created greater risk downstream.
Our practice is built on discretion, process rigour, and plain-English advice. We work primarily with HR directors and senior leaders who need a trusted, experienced hand alongside them — not a junior consultant reading from a handbook.
Angela Gonsalves FCIPD is an experienced People Director and HR leader with more than 25 years' experience supporting organisations through complex people challenges. Having held senior leadership roles across retail, e-commerce, pharmaceuticals and high-growth businesses, she has led major restructuring programmes, workplace investigations, grievance and disciplinary processes, organisational change and senior-level employee relations matters.
Known for her calm, straightforward approach, sound judgement and pragmatic advice, Angela works with organisations to navigate sensitive situations confidently, balancing legal, commercial and people considerations to achieve fair and sustainable outcomes.
